Dial up 56k
Today Tom and I created the mock up version of the website that would be used for our App in conjunction with Layar. Here is a screenshot of our Mock up.

A View to kill
Here is a preview shot from the Showroom footage we captured. Here I have animated a video over the screen, and combined all the shots needed so that Tom & Zoe can animate Neill.

Timetabling 1.0
Today in class we looked at producing a schedule for our work, so that we are able to produce scripts and storyboards to accommodate our filming schedule. Permission would still also need to be granted for specific shoots, to avoid copyright and legal issues.

Shoot To Thrill
Day One 18/2/11
The first day of filming seemed to go reasonably well during the time of filming, but when it came to getting into the studio and capturing all of our footage we realised how out of focus some of the shots were, and how badly the white balance was. Some of our shots are usable, it's just the majority of this shoot will need filming again due to technical difficulties.

First day of filming
Our first day of production was held yesterday at the Showroom, where we managed to film
a few shots which we will later on import our animated character Neil into our composition. We managed to get a load of EXT/INT shots which will be of use as our videos should each span the length of about a minute, Neil doing his little sketch will also fill up time nicely.
More filming to come next week.

· Crucible/Lyceum, INT,EXT
· Sheffield Hallam University, INT,EXT
We will film all of our footage on the HD Sony Z1 cameras.
Presentation Prep
Next Friday is the presentation.
A draft of the presentation that we would present had been produced, although changes had to be made to the document due to the marking scheme on the module documents asking us for more information. This will be done by the weekend, as our group is always prepared.
Bringing the character to life!
Here is a near to complete sketch of our character Neil. Zoe has said that she's got to update a few things with his side view and then we can bring our character to life.

Initial thoughts and ideas
When first hearing Colin explain our task I was very confused, I had no clue as to what was going on to be honest, and when I thought I finally understood it I was wrong haha. Finally I understand the project’s requirements, and my group and I are talking about various different ways we can produce something for the augmented reality project. As I have teamed up with the same faction as last year for the integrated work, I’m sure we will be able to combine all of our knowledge and course learnt strength’s again, so that we can contribute our group’s attributes and make this Augmented Reality piece something to standout and be full of creativity.

The Brief
Level 5 INTEGRATED PROJECT MODULE
A characteristic of work within the creative digital media industries is
the requirement to work on a common project within development teams
consisting of people from different working backgrounds. This mix of
backgrounds will often include people who work in such areas as film and
video, photography, animation, fine art, narrative writing, 2D and 3D graphics,
computer games software and content design and development and web
design and development. Such people may have been formally trained as
technologists, as artists, as designers or as engineers.
SUMMARY OF AIMS
The aim of this module is to put into practice the knowledge of working practices you acquired in last semesters Professional Context module, in a simulated real life environment. The module will provide you with further opportunity to work
on a design and development project, working alongside students from
other specific learning routes to produce solutions to the problems and
challenges posed by the multidisciplinary project.
You will be required to bring the specialist practical skills and knowledge that
you are learning elsewhere in your subject area and apply them in the project.
At the same time you will be expected to apply and further develop the skills
associated with working in such multidisciplinary project teams. These skills
include skills of communication, organising your work, application of project
management techniques presenting your work and providing constructive
criticism of work done by others contributing to the project.
ANTICIPATED LEARNING OUTCOMES
1 Apply effective communication skills when working in multidisciplinary
development teams
2 Choose and apply a methodological approach to project planning and
management
3 Clearly identify the content and scope of your contribution to projects
being undertaken by multidisciplinary teams
4 Give constructive feedback to other members of a project team in
response to their presentations
5 Receive and respond constructively to the feedback you get from other
project team members related to your work
6 Identify and reflect upon good practice in working in multidisciplinary
project teams
7 Reflect upon and evaluate your own performance and contribution to a
multidisciplinary team effort.
You will define your own project outline within your groups that will provide the
basis for the whole project team to work on. Within this brief, there will be an
outline of the contribution expected from each team member. However, you
will also be expected to take the lead in defining and creating your
contribution, taking responsibility for your performance as a team member.
You will also be responsible for the creation of your project team, and this will
involve relevant negotiations with the Module Leaders.
Tutors will be on hand to provide support to the project team, acting as
advisers on all aspects of the project work, management, planning and
communication between team members. They will assist in making sure that
the project team effort is well managed and will provide feedback in the taught
sessions where appropriate. All project team members will be required to
attend the taught sessions, and present and receive feedback on their own
individual contributions when required.
There will be group meetings to provide academic support and guidance in
order to assist you in gaining an understanding of what constitutes good
practice in multidisciplinary team working.
This module is about team working and aims to provide you with experience of
working in a group. You will therefore be assessed on your effective
contribution to your group, your practical contribution towards the final piece
of work your group produces and the quality of its final presentation as part of
the Augmented Reality Trail. Therefore you are NOT marked individually but on your groups collective output and team working. The only handin you will be
marked on individually is your written handin at the end of the course.
During the course of this module you will be expected to:
• Apply individual practice skills to a defined multidisciplinary team based
project
• Create content for a shared piece of work
• Communicate within project teams
• Project manage, plan and report
• Present individual work to other team members
• Report on personal and team performance
• Receive and give constructive criticism and feedback within a team
based working environment
THE BRIEF
You are asked to create material for an Augmented Reality Trail through the centre of Sheffield. The trail will start at Sheffield station and end at the city hall. You will be asked to specifically focus on the Cultural Industries Quarter, Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield City Council locations and Services.
For this module you will produce one piece of content suitable for
Inclusion in the trail. You will work in self-selected multi disciplinary
groups of five or six. Each group’s workflow will be managed by students from
the ‘Managing the Creative Process’ course that runs concurrent to this one,
with the course tutors overseeing this management process.
CONTENT
You will create your content based on ONE of the following THREE themes:
Sheffield City
Locations and services
Cultural Industries Quarter
Events and History
Sheffield Hallam University
Hallam Life
You will start by forming your group and deciding what type of content you
want to produce. You will need to divide up the work within your team, bearing
in mind the skills that each of you have and the predicted workload.
The MCP group is here to help you schedule your workload, and make sure
that you maintain good communication within your group. Their job is to make
sure that you deliver on time and to a high standard. They however are not
there to manage your time and make sure you pull your weight.
Working in groups, you are asked to respond to the one or more of the above
objective by developing, pitching and producing elements for the trail.
Assignments and Marking Scheme
Learning outcomes outlined above will be evidenced by assessment of your
coursework for the module, your group presentations and 1000 word written document. Marks will be as follows:
Presentation 1 In class GROUP MARK 20%
Presentation 2 In class GROUP MARK 20%
Presentation 3 The trail GROUP MARK 30%
The above will be supported by a journal containing workshop notes, personal research and reflections on the production process.
This is a 1000 word document providing a critical analysis on your project. It
should include a journal reflecting the production of your project, team working,
and a 200 word evaluation of your final piece. This is a personal document so
needs to be written individually. You cannot submit the same document as
others in your group.
Written Diary inc personal opinion on joint
working hand in to Sheaf 4pm
Thursday May 5th INDIVIDUAL MARK 30%
